On Sunday we held an information session and open day.

We ran three different activities for children to get a taste of our style of education.

日曜日に学校の説明会と体験入学を行いました。

子どもたちがとさ自由学校の教育課程を体験するために、三つの活動をしました。

Ms. Geji was in charge of konyaku making,

コンニャク作り担当→　下司

Mr. Fukuyama was in charge of flag making

フラッグ作りを担当→　福山

and I was in charge of the photo-book activity.

フォトブック作りを担当→　私 （アーサー）

The aim of this photo-book activity was to get the kids looking and thinking

about what they see and then present the finished books.

フォトブック作り活動の目的は、子供たちが自分たちの周りを観察し、

考え、出来上がったブックを発表することです。

I took a group of 8 children and 6 adults out from the school across the Shogase River,

through a field to a small shrine on a nearby hill.

The theme was broad: whatever catches your eye!

子ども8人と大人6人を引率。学校を出て、勝賀瀬川を渡り、

丘近くの小さな神社を抜けた田んぼの間の道を歩く。

A small adventure, every day: this builds confidence!

毎日、小さな冒険！これは自信をつけます！

Along the way we took photos.

歩きながら、写真を撮りました。

After about 30 minutes we returned to the school

where participants chose the pictures they wanted in their photo-books.

30分間歩いて写真を撮りました。

学校に帰ってフォトブックに入れたい写真を選びました。

Looking closely at the world around you, develops your interest in the world.

身近な世界をよく見ると、広い世界への興味が自然にわいてきます。

　　

I printed the photos and then everyone decorated and assembled their books.

写真を印刷てそして皆は自分の本のデコレーションと組み合わせしました。

　　

The process of taking photos and then presenting them

helps improve analytical skills, develop logical thinking

and builds self-confidence.

These skills can then be applied to looking at the wider world

and at the same time we can introduce simple English vocabulary.

写真撮影・印刷したもののプレゼンは、

分析力・論理的な考え方を高めます。

そして自信が高まります。

このようなスキルは広い世界を見る時にも使えます。

それと同時に簡単な英語を紹介して語彙を増やします。

　　

This activity has developmental and educational value

but at a more fundamental level, it is a “small adventure” & good fun!

この活動は発達的・教育的価値がありながら、

わくわく、小さな,、楽しい冒険になります！
